Mercy for Animals 2010

Thank you Mercy for Animals for continuing to break the doors open about the suffering of farm animals in Ohio and beyond. This year they did some undercover operations that showed how disgusting the farm industry is.  I would love to dexter Billy Joe, living in my hometown and all, but then I think about all the good he did for animals by being one of the most disgusting people on earth.  He will get his and hopefully the cows I see through the windows of Conklin Farms will one day find peace and will be rescued. They have an open invitation to live their lives out on my farm if they ever get released. This operation is the reason I am a vegan today and I am thankful that I made the decision that my laziness or temporary enjoyment is not a justifiable reason to eat meat or dairy. Lets change the world, one person at a time and one animal at a time.  Make the right choice for the next year and don't support this cruel and disgusting industry.  In my opinion, vegetarianism is not enough. Go vegan for the new year!

Veg dogs!

I am thinking about feeding my dogs and cats a vegetarian diet.  I think the dogs would be fine and they already love veggies and fruit but I am worried about my diabetic cat, not sure about him.  I am going to do more research on the topic but I think it would be great if they ate like me. We could eat dinner together!  A veg dog named Bramble lived to be 27 yrs old! amazing!  If anyone has any info about veg pet food and recipes I would love advice/ experience.

Reindeer can fly!

Island of misfit toys

"A toy is never truly happy until it is loved by a child."
This part of Rudolph always made me sad. It's the toy version of the pound.

The Grinch's cute little dog

That little dog took a lot of crap from the grinch.  Lets all grow a bigger heart and give our pets and homeless pets more love this year.  We can always do more!  Don't forget to get your pet a present! Our pets deserve it.

Good luck charm

Pronounced "Gree Gree", this chocolate beauty has probably one of the saddest stories we've ever encountered. We received a plea for help from some friends in the New Orleans area. A dog had been spotted in a rough part of town, hanging from a pole by her front legs that were bound together. Only her back feet were touching the ground and she had been hanging from this pole in a field for three days in the blistering Southern heat. By the time we decided to jump in and help, thankfully a very very brave woman who was passing thru the neighborhood, saw this poor dog and cut her down. The first thing this dog did was kiss the woman non-stop, this before she even drank the water that was offered to her. Finally she gulped down gallons of water in one sitting. We then drove to the Louisiana to complete the rescue mission. It was there that we learned of her new name: Gris Gris. A :"gris gris" is a good luck charm that wards of evil spirits in the world of VooDoo. How appropriate. Gris Gris is the absolute poster girl for the ultimate Pit Bull. After all the abuse and torture she endured at the hands of a human, she has completely forgiven mankind and is the most kissy faced, wiggly butt dog you will EVER meet. She LOVES LOVES LOVES LOVES to play ball and throw her toys up in the air. She is a high drive dog and full of piss and vinegar. So despite her loving personality and temperament, she will still need an experienced dog person due to her energy level and dog aggression. A personal note from me. If I didn't already have my own dogs, I would sooooo adopt this dog for myself. She is an absolute doll and so full of life. A special thank you to Merrie Pearl and Tanya O' Reilly of Louisiana who were the saviors who stepped in to help this girl get to us safely. If you're looking for a little good luck in your life, then this is your dog.

Marlon and Russell

Marlon Brando and his beloved pet raccoon Russell, a weird gift from his mother. He lived with Russell for a long time, even if Russell made a mess of his apartment in NY. As he got older, Russell became too agressive, so Brando brought him in his family's farm and let him go away one night in the barn. The call of the wild.
In his biography, he wrote : "I still miss him. He would follow me everywhere, like a shadow."
